Writing a statement of purpose live - They're really not that hard

Technology improves, public consciousness increases, and poverty is eliminated. Yet, despite the advances in global quality of life over the past several decades, the environment worsens. Global warming continues unabated and alternative energy sources offer hope but little pragmatism. But I continue to fight. I wake up each day to combat these issues as an environmental consultant. To become even more effective in my position, I seek admission to the PhD Environmental Engineering program at Harvard University.

At the University of California, Berkeley, I completed my degree in Environmental Science and established a foundation that has served me well both in my master’s degree and professional career. Courses such as (example 1) and (example 2) introduced the fundamentals of (some important concepts for environmental engineering). Have one more sentence here about how her undergraduate degree has prepped her to succeed in the PhD program. Definitely have a sentence or two about the internship, and really emphasize the research components of the internship. Conclude with a statement about her lower GPA, but immediately segue into her very successful performance in her master’s program.

(She should write like 3-4 sentences that go into detail about her research. Did she publish anything? What projects did she work on? Did she go to any conferences or do any presentations?) Definitely want to get into the weeds here about your research experience in the lab at Stanford.

In my role, I actively conduct environmental impact assessments for various construction projects, the most notable being the $3 billion project in San Diego to revitalize its downtown harbor (bullshitting). In addition, I have developed numerous sustainable waste management plans for corporate clients, including Coca Cola, Ford, and Greg Mat. However, despite the knowledge and experience I have gained with Green Earth Solutions, I have come to realize that I require a stronger research foundation to more meaningfully impact the space and create lasting change for future generations. The key here is to be general.
